The delivery app and service Glovo continues to commit to expanding its presence in Morocco by operating in new cities, revealed Sacha Michaud, co-founder of the Spain-based company, in an exclusive interview with Hespress English.

Michaud disclosed that Morocco is among Glovo’s top five markets worldwide and the largest within the region. “We are experiencing a 30% year-on-year growth,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of the Moroccan market for Glovo.

Michaud also expressed his excitement about the potential developments in the coming six years.

“Our strategy is to continue growing by launching in new regions in Morocco and improving our operations through better stores and better partnerships,” explained the co-founder of Glovo.

Regarding the considerable opportunities Glovo sees in the Moroccan market, Michaud highlighted that Morocco is leading in technological innovation on the continent.

He pointed out the country’s progress in creating a digital society and its forward-thinking government regulations aimed at accelerating the economy in various sectors, not just digital.

This approach, Michaud emphasized, creates an attractive environment for investors, encouraging them to invest and expand their businesses in the kingdom.

However, Michaud noted that traffic congestion is a significant problem for their business.

This issue is one of the main obstacles Glovo faces in further expansion within the country.

Nevertheless, Michaud stressed that Morocco is one of Glovo’s most mature markets, where the company first launched its operations.

“We have learned how to launch in a new city, onboard courier fleets, and collaborate with the best restaurants and local shops. This playbook, which we learned in Morocco, is now used across the continent,” revealed the co-founder of Glovo.

He also highlighted Glovo’s considerable operational capacity in Morocco, with over 100 people managing business activities in their offices.

Michaud emphasized the significant presence of thousands of active couriers earning daily income through the app, along with thousands of partners consistently selling on Glovo Morocco’s platform.
