The second edition of “GITEX Africa Morocco,” currently taking place in Marrakesh, highlighted Morocco’s advanced expertise in cybersecurity during a discussion session titled “Building Resilient Regional Cybersecurity: A Collective Project.”

During the session, the Kingdom of Morocco’s intensive efforts to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities were showcased. Brigadier General Mostafa Rabi’i, director of the Vigilance, Monitoring, and Response Center to Cyber Attacks of the Directorate General for Information System Security, gave a comprehensive presentation on the national 2030 strategy in this area.

Rabi’i emphasized the central role that Morocco plays at both the regional and international levels in cybersecurity, thanks to close cooperation between various involved parties.

He also stressed the importance of national collaboration to address the growing challenges in this field.

In addition to Moroccan expertise, experts from other countries also participated in the session. Mohammed Al-Kuwaiti, chairman of the Cybersecurity Council of the United Arab Emirates, and Albert Antwi-Boasiako, director-general of the Cyber Security Authority of Ghana, presented their countries’ experiences in cybersecurity.

The speakers unanimously agreed on the need to strengthen international and regional cooperation to tackle increasingly complex cyber threats. They called for transparent sharing of information and experiences.

They also emphasized the role of cybersecurity as an essential pillar for sustainable development and underscored the importance of capacity building and providing necessary training to ensure sustainable cooperation in this area.

Emad Baraka, director-general for economic security for France and Francophone Africa, highlighted the importance of the session in raising awareness about the significance of national and regional cooperation in cybersecurity, especially in light of increasing geopolitical challenges.
