The 29th edition of the International Book Fair in Rabat concluded on Sunday, marking a record-breaking event. The fair was organized by the Ministry of Culture, with UNESCO as the guest of honor.
In a press release, the ministry revealed that the fair saw the participation of 743 exhibitors from 48 countries. They presented a wide range of approximately 100,000 different book titles, covering a variety of subjects, knowledge areas, and forms of creative expression.
The cultural program was notably rich and varied, transforming the fair venues into intellectual and creative hubs, the statement added.
More than 1,480 cultural activities were held, 320 of which were directly organized by the ministry or in collaboration with participating research and government centers.
Over 3,703 participants contributed to the cultural program, including 885 speakers from the ministry’s program.
For younger audiences, the fair presented an educational and entertaining program under the theme “Happiness in Colors,” focusing on knowledge development through more than 10,000 workshops.
For the first time, the fair introduced a new space dedicated to the works of renowned Marvel and DC Comics artists and creators. This area offered more than 51 activities, attended by 15,000 people throughout the duration of the fair.
The ministry noted that media coverage of the event was extensive, facilitated by collaborations with 68 media organizations, including television, radio, print, and online channels, both from Morocco and abroad.
Notably, the fair attracted more than 316,000 visitors, representing a 32% increase compared to previous years.
“With these impressive statistics, the 29th edition has reached a new milestone in the journey of this major cultural event, demonstrating the value and effectiveness of efforts to bring books closer to the public with each edition,” the statement said.
