Dacia has solidified its position as the leading car brand in Morocco, capturing an impressive 26% share of the passenger vehicle market (PV) in the country.

According to recent data from the Moroccan Vehicle Importers Association (AIVAM), this aligns with a steady overall increase in new car sales.

In total, 82,286 new cars were sold in Morocco last month, representing a modest increase of 1.06% compared to the same period last year, according to AIVAM data.

Dacia’s 19,732 new registrations since the beginning of the year have placed the brand far ahead of its competitors.

Renault is in second place with 11,657 units sold, accounting for a 15% market share, followed by Hyundai with 5,933 units and an 8% market share.

The PV segment overall saw a slight decline in new registrations, with a 0.24% decrease to 74,048 units.

Meanwhile, the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment showed strong growth, with a 14% increase in sales to 8,238 units.

Renault led the LCV market with sales of 2,040 units for a 24% market share, followed by Ford with 1,138 units at 13%, and DFSK with 963 units at 11%.

Audi emerged as the top brand in the luxury car market segment, securing a 3% market share with over 2,250 cars sold in the first half of 2024. BMW and Mercedes-Benz followed with market shares of 2% and 2% respectively.

The high-end brand Porsche also reported significant growth, selling 354 units since the beginning of 2024; this represented a 54% increase in sales for the luxury brand compared to the end of May 2023. On the other hand, Jaguar saw a 15% decline in sales, selling only 51 units.

June 2024 saw a slight overall decline in vehicle sales compared to the same month last year. Total sales for the month amounted to 17,368 units, including 15,855 PVs and 1,513 LCVs, representing a marginal decline of 0.15% compared to June 2023.
