The central bank of Morocco, Bank Al Maghrib (BAM), announced today that it is taking measures to ensure that sufficient cash is available at ATMs throughout Morocco.

“Given the high demand for cash during the celebration of Eid Al Adha, which this year coincides with the weekend, Bank Al-Maghrib, in collaboration with banks, has taken preventive measures to ensure the availability of ATMs in all prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom,” the bank said in a press release.

The measures include providing banks with sufficient banknotes to meet all their needs during this period, as well as coordinating with banks to ensure the reliability of ATMs both technically and in terms of banknote supply.

BAM also assured citizens that an internal unit has been set up to communicate with bank representatives and to monitor ATM provisioning and address any challenges.

Morocco celebrates Eid Al Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, on Monday. One of the holiest holidays in Islam, the feast commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail at the command of God.

The public and private sectors will have a holiday on Monday and Tuesday next week.

Additionally, public sector employees expect to receive an early payment this month on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Earlier this week, the Deposit and Management Fund (CDG) announced that it would advance the payment of pensions from pension schemes, solidarity fund benefits, and associated aid payments scheduled for July to June 12 in connection with Eid.
