In 2030, the World Cup will take place, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The Moroccan Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, has shared Morocco’s ambitions; a goal to attract millions of business travelers in the coming years.

Ammor said Monday in the House of Representatives that the Ministry of Tourism aims to attract 1.5 million business travelers by 2026. By 2030, the North African country aims to attract two million tourists.

The year 2030 will mark the World Cup, jointly organized by Morocco, Portugal, and Spain. Many government officials have highlighted the tournament’s potential to contribute to the country’s economy and tourism sector.

In her response to questions from parliament, Ammor emphasized that business tourism plays a crucial role in promoting destinations.

She said this sector has undergone significant development in recent years and attracted substantial investments in all destinations aimed at business travelers.

Currently, work is underway on a world-class convention center in Marrakesh with a capacity of 10,000 participants. The initiative aims to place the city in the top 10 global destinations for business tourism and bring it to the forefront in Africa, she said.

The minister also recalled the strategic roadmap for 2023-2026, noting that this project specifically covers this period, adding that achieving better results requires long-term financing and investments for their realization.

She also indicated that her ministry is ready to consider all proposals and destinations that can host business tourism and provide the necessary support and assistance.

Last year, Morocco attracted at least 14.5 million tourists in total. The North African country aims to attract 17 million tourists by 2026 and another 26 million by 2030.
