On Wednesday, in a ceremony held at the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Italy signed a significant agreement for the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses, specifically for conversion purposes.

This agreement aims to eliminate the hurdles faced by Moroccans residing in Italy when converting their new-generation Moroccan licenses to be valid in Italy. The signing ceremony itself marked the successful conclusion of extended negotiations between the two countries.

During the ceremony, both sides expressed their admiration for each other’s progress.  Italy’s Vice-President and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, commended Morocco’s advancements, particularly the remarkable growth in its road, rail, and port infrastructure. He emphasized the potential for further strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the realm of connectivity, and highlighted the investment opportunities Morocco presents.

In response, Morocco’s Ambassador to Italy, Youssef Balla, underscored the agreement’s significance. He stressed that it embodies the Moroccan government’s unwavering commitment, guided by the directives of King Mohammed VI and his dedication to the well-being of the Moroccan community abroad. Ambassador Balla further emphasized that this agreement serves as another building block in the legal framework that underpins the exceptional cooperation and partnership between Morocco and Italy across various areas of mutual interest.
