Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and SAP Francophonie Africa have expressed their commitment to further strengthen their collaboration through an alliance aligned with Morocco’s objectives to promote digital transformation.

In a joint statement this week, both parties indicated that this alliance is reflected in UM6P’s adoption of the “RISE with SAP” solution for managing their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

ERP is a mechanism that helps manage key operational processes in businesses and organizations.

Hicham El Habti, the president of UM6P, and Iraqi Houssaini, the managing director of SAP Francophonie Africa, sealed the alliance during GITEX Africa, held in Marrakech in May, according to a joint statement from both parties today.

“This alliance follows the sovereign cloud project announced in June 2023 by UM6P and SAP, which introduced the launch of Morocco’s first cloud service with Atlas Cloud Services (a subsidiary of UM6P), hosting the ‘RISE with SAP’ offering,” the statement said.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the efforts of both parties in innovation, sovereignty, and enhanced data protection, supporting Moroccan and African businesses in more than 25 sectors.

Houssaini expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, emphasizing that SAP is delighted to work with UM6P to provide ERP solutions hosted in a sovereign cloud to more businesses in Morocco and the rest of Africa.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to supporting UM6P and other enterprises across the continent in this technological revolution by providing innovative solutions to optimize processes in real time, reduce operational costs, and improve performance,” he added in the statement.

El Habti of UM6P, in turn, emphasized that this collaboration marks a significant milestone “in our mission to support digital transformation in Morocco and Africa.”

“By combining our advanced sovereign cloud infrastructure with SAP solutions, we have the ability to modernize data management according to leading standards in security, regulatory compliance, scalability, and environmental friendliness to accelerate our growth,” he added.

The agreement also aims to enable continental companies to benefit from SAP’s cloud technology on a global scale while meeting local legal and regulatory requirements.

This agreement aligns with Morocco’s objective to strengthen its digital transformation efforts within the region, as well as enhance its position in the global digital economy, creating high-quality jobs for customers and partners.
