The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and telecom operator Inwi announced the signing of a collaboration agreement to promote innovative entrepreneurship and support digital startups.

The signing of the agreement took place during the ongoing GITEX Africa, which opened today in Marrakech.

In a joint statement from UM6P and Inwi, the new agreement was described as “a significant step in the collaboration between both parties to create new synergies between the private sector and academia.”

Both parties also emphasized their commitment to pooling their expertise and resources to contribute to the development of an ecosystem conducive to innovation and the growth of young digital enterprises.

As part of the plan, the agreement will focus on supporting and accelerating programs for startup projects that win the InwiDays Awards.

The 12th edition of the award will take place on the UM6P campus in Benguerir on June 25, according to the press release, which noted that the event brings together experts and entrepreneurs to exchange and share ideas about the Sportech sector.

Such programs aim to identify, engage, and support entrepreneurial talents and innovative projects in various key areas, including fintech, AI technology, and sporttech.

According to the press release, the initiative also aims to create a national center for startup support and acceleration.

The statement concluded by recalling the commitment of both parties, with Inwi noting that the collaboration “perfectly aligns with its vision to support the growth of Moroccan startups and highlight the new digital economy.”

The university emphasized that it actively contributes to creating an environment conducive to the development and success of startups.

“By joining forces, Inwi and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University will create significant opportunities for digital startups and contribute to the dynamism of the national entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said the joint statement.
