Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch signed a 3 billion MAD investment agreement with BTR New Material Group for a cathode production unit in Tangier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This marks a historic first for Morocco&#8217;s electric battery ecosystem. The factory, located within the Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City, will have a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year upon completion. Construction has already begun, with the first phase expected to be operational by September 2026, producing 25,000 tons annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BTR, a global leader in EV battery component manufacturing, is leading the project. Their clientele includes major players like BYD, CATL, Volkswagen, and Tesla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This investment signifies not only Morocco&#8217;s growing role in the automotive industry but also strengthens the partnership between Morocco and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Investment, Convergence, and Policy Evaluation, Mohcine Jazouli, emphasized that this is just the beginning.
