Mohamed Benouda, founder and chairman of the Aba Technology group, presents the progress of his company in the field of AIoT. The platforms DakaAI and DigiHealth illustrate how Aba Technology is modernizing urban management and healthcare in Africa and the Middle East.

Mohamed Benouda: Our platform “DakaAI” is the first platform in Africa and the Middle East focused on smart surveillance of areas, including urban management and public safety. It combines IoT (Internet of Things), AI (Artificial Intelligence), and Computer Vision with cameras produced in Morocco by Nextcor, a subsidiary of the Aba Technology group. This subsidiary thereby creates a significant advantage in AI-based smart surveillance, supported by a hybrid Cloud/Edge Computing architecture focused on data sovereignty.

F.N.H.: How does Aba Technology contribute to the digital transformation of Industry X.0?

M.B.: Through its two subsidiaries, Hardiot and Mana Technology, our group has been able to redefine industrial processes by digitizing several factories in Morocco and internationally, thanks to the Industry X.0-oriented platform called DigIndustry X.0. This platform enables more agile production, predictive maintenance, industrial excellence, and increased worker safety, with control of energy consumption and reduction of the ecological footprint.

F.N.H.: What specific innovations did you present in the field of future medicine at Gitex Africa 2024?

M.B.: During this second edition of Gitex Africa, Aba Technology, through its connected healthcare subsidiary Mediot, presented an AIoT platform dedicated to the medicine of the future, called “DigiHealth.” This platform offers personalized follow-up, early diagnoses, proactive management of chronic diseases, integration of the patient record, and optimization of healthcare for healthier and more fulfilling lives. This convergence allows connected medical devices and/or equipment not only to collect and exchange data but also to make real-time decisions thanks to AI to save more patients.

F.N.H.: What strategic partnerships have you established to further strengthen your position as a regional leader in the sector?

M.B.: Thanks to the concrete achievements of the group’s subsidiaries through strategic partnerships in various sectors (digitization of factories, mines, telemedicine in medical deserts, etc.), Aba Technology has strengthened its position as a regional leader in artificial intelligence of things (AIoT), Cloud/Edge Computing, data platforms, and industrial cybersecurity, thus enabling a new Society X.0 that strives for “protection of the environment, health, and safety of citizens.”

F.N.H.: How do you see the future of HealthTech in Africa, and what is Aba Technology’s contribution in this regard?

M.B.: The African continent accounts for 50% of global maternal mortality, with significant child mortality (1 in 5 children dies before their fifth birthday), an availability of 20 doctors per 100,000 inhabitants, and a bed capacity of 10 beds per 10,000 inhabitants (while the global average is 27). Through its integrated telemedicine offering, Mediot provides an answer to these limitations by offering adapted products and solutions and by making people and resources available to maximize preventive care.
